Zoo Day

We weren't the only ones who decided to take advantage of today's beautiful weather to hit the zoo. The animals were clearly enjoying the weather, too, as there were so many out and active.

We always take a pic by the gate at the Zebras. This was the first one we've taken of them standing there together.

Mommy. These zebras are stinky.

Zoo Day Fun Day

Today we did a trip to the zoo and botanic gardens. For the first time we took the train in between. It was hot, but it was lovely. As usual, we got there early and left by the time it got hot.

Here are a few of my favorite shots. Now that we're going to Hawaii, I feel the need to practice more with my camera.

Ahhhh

Today I spent four and a half hours of bliss at Your Private Adobe. How I ended up there is kind of random. Laura sent me a very generous gift certificate for Mother's Day, and I put it away until I had some time to really enjoy it and relax. Then my wonderful friend Amy sent me a gift certificate for them for my birthday. Neither of them talked with each other - they simply looked for a nice place I could relax that wasn't too far from home. And let me say this - while Your Private Adobe is close to home, it's beyond what I could ever have expected.

The woman that runs it has turned her house into a spa. When you book an appointment there, you are the only guest (unless you book a couples package or go with a group of girls). Since it was just me I had the place to myself. I started my day with a relaxing foot treatment while drinking juice and sitting in a super comfy chair. After that I had a 90-minute massage that combined deep tissue therapy with hot rock treatments. After that I had a facial. Once I finished the facial, I had lunch while relaxing in another big, comfy chair. Then I spent some time in their spa, and finished the day with a salt scrub body wrap.

All in all, it was the kind of pampering that I probably couldn't afford very often, but having such generous people who care about me made it a reality. And I didn't realize how much I needed it until I was on my way home reflecting on the day. I encourage all of you to carve some time out of your life for just you. Do something that makes you happy - read a book, take a bath, or splurge on a massage or some other treatment. The energy you get back in the end will help you forget about the cost.

Happy Anniversary Honey!

June 21st was our two-year wedding anniversary. I'm such a lucky woman to have such a thoughtful, funny, caring and all-around amazing husband. And he's pretty darn cute, too!

We celebrated the occasion with a trip to the Melting Pot, which is just about my favorite place ever. And just because I love this pic, here's what we were doing two years ago today:
