Brian took Madeline for the exciting - yet dreaded - four-month checkup. I say "dreaded" because she has to get shots and they make her cry and they make me cry and they suck. But it is an exciting appointment because we also get to see her progress growth-wise. He had to take her because I had a photo shoot for work today that I couldn't get out of since they were taking my picture, and I was so excited to get the new stats for our beautiful little girl (who is clearly not so little anymore).
At two months:
10 pounds
22" long
In the low 20th percentile for both height and weight
At four months:
13 pounds, 3 ounces
24" long
In the 50th percentile for both height and weight
She has also been cleared for rice cereal and some other solids, but I'm trying to keep her as close to breast milk only until six months. Why six months? Anyone who knows Brian and his family know that they all struggle with asthma. When reading about breast feeding, one of the amazing benefits is that I can give her something like a 90% lower chance of having asthma by breast feeding her for the first six months. If I can give my daughter that gift, I would be so happy. And I know Brian would be happy for her not to struggle the way he has, too.
