Last night I think I caught a glimpse of what life will be like with a teenage daughter. Madeline can be a bit of a drama queen, and it's not unheard of for her to throw a tantrum when something happens she doesn't like. It's usually punctuated with "I. Don't. Like. It!" or "You're. Not. My. Friend!" The periods in between the words are deliberate because she pauses after each word for emphasis.
Last night after telling her it was time for bed (at 9:45), she stormed away, stomped across the room and into the bathroom. She tried to slam the door, but it got stuck on the rug in there so she had to shove it closed, which of course she did with emphasis and drama. Then from behind the door she screamed her usual mantra of "I. don't. like.it"
I immediately started giggling, to which she screamed, "It's. not. funny. mommy!"
Ahhh...toddler-hood.
And a sneak preview of life with a dramatic teenager.
