Today I took Madeline in her for three-year check up. I debated on telling her first, but she knows what the doctor's office looks like, and I panicked that if I waited until we got there, she'd be kicking and screaming as we walked in the door.
So I took the plunge and told her as she was getting dressed. After a good five or ten minutes of "I don't want to go to the doctor," she settled down. I told her they were going to weigh her and measure her like we did on her wall, and he would check her eyes and ears like she does on her dolls with her new doctor kit.
She was a champ. I was so proud of her. And somehow, this girl who really isn't that keen on always using the potty, used theirs not once, not twice, but four times. I guess the appeal of trying to pee into a cup that mommy was holding in the toilet to collect a sample was too exciting to just try once.
Even though they ask about skills meant for 3 to 4 year olds, she did them all on cue. They asked her to draw a circle, which she did. Then they asked her stuff like what's your full name, what color is that (pointing to something), etc etc.
As we've always known, she's on the slight side. He said she'll probably be about 5'3" or 5'4". Although she could hit a growth spurt and exceed that. He said it's always a hit or miss type thing as far as that estimate.
Of course he confirmed what we already knew - we have a bright, fun, smart and healthy little three year old.
