It's purple. It's sparkly. What should I do with it?
We got a call from daycare mid-morning on Friday letting me know I needed to come and get Madeline. This is nothing new. In the past, we've received the call for many reasons, including - Madeline bit someone and broke skin (which means they have to be picked up immediately), she has a fever, she has "tummy problems", etc.
Today was a new call. They let us know she was rubbing her nose and sneezing a bit, and when they took a closer look it appeared that she had something in her nose. Brian took her to the pediatrician for a disastrous appointment that only resulted in the object getting lodged further up her nose and adding bleeding to the mix. They said she needed to see a specialist, so off to the Pediatric ER we went.
They tried the bulb thing to no avail. Then they put a tube in the other nostril, held her mouth closed and ran air up her nose - all of a sudden this sparkly purple thing came FLYING out. It didn't just come out - it literally flew out her nose, halfway down her chest.
Once the tears subsided (hers and mine) I made a call to daycare because she picked it up there. We don't have pencils around, much less ones with sparkly glittery purple erasers.
Several hours later, she's ate and napped and she's back to her cheerful self. I just hope the next time she sees a pencil, she doesn't think that the eraser really should be in her nose.
